A major milestone for the health plans; perfect scores validate excellence in care

CHICAGO, Ill. (April 24, 2017) – Family Health Network (FHN) and Community Care Alliance of Illinois, (CCAI), a subsidiary of FHN, today received National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) "accredited" status, a high distinction granted to those health organizations that have passed rigorous criteria on clinically sound programs and services that meet consumer protection and quality improvement. Family Health Network Appoints New Medical Director to Oversee Quality and Compliance Initiatives

Expertise will further advance health plan’s mission on complex care

Dr. Mary LawlorCHICAGO – December 13, 2016 – Family Health Network (FHN) has appointed Dr. Mary Lawlor as medical director of the health plan and its subsidiary, Community Care Alliance of Illinois (CCAI). Dr. Lawlor comes with extensive experience in utilization management, quality improvement and compliance in a practice, hospital and nursing home settings, specifically for the Medicaid, Medicare and dual eligible populations. She also brings specialized expertise in complex care and chronic conditions for the elderly through her internal and geriatric medicine specialties.

Prior to joining FHN, Dr. Lawlor served as medical director at Humana, where she was responsible for the standardization of processes across the health plan and regulatory review of key areas including inpatient services, skilled nursing home, inpatient rehabilitation, long-term acute care hospitals and out-of-network services.

Aneta Maczuga wins 2016 ACAP ScholarshipCHICAGO – November 4, 2016 -The Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP) and Family Health Network (FHN) in Chicago named Aneta Maczuga, a student at Loyola University of Chicago, as the winner of ACAP’s sixth annual Scholarship Essay Contest. The $2,000 scholarship will help further her studies as a pre-med and psychology major at Loyola.

Johns Hopkins Top Medical Expert Appointed Chief Medical Officer at Family Health Network

Chicago, IL – Dr. Robert Kimball Kritzler has been appointed Family Health Network’s (FHN) new Chief Medical Officer effective Feb. 1st. Prior to accepting the position with FHN, Dr. Kritzler worked for nearly a decade at Johns Hopkins Healthcare (JHHC), a leader in innovative health care solutions and the premiere academic medical center in the nation, as Deputy Chief Medical Officer. As Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Kritzler served as a member of the executive leadership group for medical and quality management, which consists of three health plans comprised of JHHC.

Medicaid Health Plans and Local Church Distribute 1,000 Coats to Needy

Local legislative leaders assist at December event

CHICAGO - Family Health Network (FHN), a not-for-profit provider-sponsored HMO serving Chicago, Cook County and Northern Illinois, and Community Care Alliance of Illinois (CCAI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of FHN, partnered with the Southwest Church of Christ to give away 1,000 coats in early December. Together with support from local legislative leaders, the organizations collected new and gently used coats for children and seniors as well as cash donations to buy additional coats.

Family Health Network and Community Care Alliance of Illinois Take The Lead In Hourly Pay

Health plans have paid almost double the minimum wage since 2014

CHICAGO – Since 2014, Family Health Network (FHN), a not-for-profit managed care community network serving Chicago, Cook County and Northern Illinois, and Community Care Alliance of Illinois (CCAI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of FHN, have set the minimum wage policy for its hourly employees at $16 an hour—almost double the amount established as the minimum wage in Illinois, currently at $8.25. The minimum wage in Illinois will increase to $10 in July 2015. More than 60 hourly employees benefit from this policy.

Family Health Network Member Receives $1,000 Reward

CHICAGO – October 6, 2014 - Family Health Network’s Bernestine Crowley won a $1,000 award for an essay that she wrote. It was for the Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP). They hold a contest each year for students to earn scholarship money. Bernestine is a junior at Governors State University. She is working towards a degree in health care. In the future, she wants to earn a Master’s degree in the field.

Family Health Network Continues Rapid Growth of Provider Network

Nonprofit Medicaid health plan network doubles since 2010

CHICAGO – February 7, 2014 - The Family Health Network (FHN), a nonprofit health plan serving Medicaid recipients, has seen its network of providers double over the last three years, from 2,078 primary care physicians, specialists, hospitals and clinics in 2010 to 4,299 at the close of 2013.

The FHN network grew by nearly 15 percent in 2013, sustaining the dramatic growth spurt since 2010. Key additions to the network last year include the Erie Family Health Center and UIC Hospital.
